How to do a Pre-Ride Safety Check

Prior to embarking on a ride, ensure you check your e-bike thoroughly.

We have crafted a pre-ride safety checklist for your convenience. Depending on the ride you are going to take you may need to consider some additional items, however, this is a good place to start.

Pre-Ride Safety Checklist:

  1. Do an overall walk around your bike checking for any damage or things that may be put in spots you'd least expect. We've seen sticks put in gears damaging bikes so doing a walk around should help illuminate these sorts of problems.
  2. Peek at how much juice is left in your battery to make sure there's enough battery life to get you through the whole ride.
  3. Make sure you have the bikes keys (if any) with you and in a secure place.
  4. Give those tires a good squeeze to make sure there's sufficient tire pressure for the terrain you will be riding.
  5. Inspect those wheels. Checking the tire pressure is crucial and important but remember to also check the condition of the tires. Weather, temperature, and road surface conditions significantly affect tire condition, so check before each ride.
  6. Check your brakes. Regular brake inspections can help identify potential problems before they escalate, allowing for timely repairs.
  7. Check wheel quick releases. Make sure the quick release is secure and fully closed - you don't want to loose a wheel when riding.
  8. Check your chain seeing that it is tight enough and not too loose.
  9. Check that you have your keys, if any, and be sure to bring them with you remembering to put them in a secure location.

When riding if your bike isn't working as it should, i.e.. the motor is making a noise, the brakes aren't working well etc., head home and get it looked at.

Wishing you a great ride!
